The much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3 has landed in hot water off-screen. In a surprising legal twist, Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films, has slapped veteran actor Paresh Rawal with a ₹25 crore lawsuit, alleging that he walked out of the film midway, causing massive financial and creative setbacks.

The production house recently issued a detailed statement outlining the legal grounds for the suit. At the heart of their argument? A signed Term Sheet dated March 27, 2025, in which Rawal allegedly accepted a ₹11 lakh signing amount, locking in his role in the third instalment of the beloved franchise.

According to the statement, Rawal had not only committed publicly to the film with a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on January 30, but also actively participated in creative planning and a teaser shoot on April 3.

The teaser shoot, Cape of Good Films claims, featured over three minutes of footage with Rawal alongside co-stars Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. The company emphasized that during this time, Rawal did not express any dissatisfaction or raise creative concerns.

However, the bombshell dropped when Paresh Rawal suddenly backed out of the project, allegedly citing “creative differences”, a justification the production house called “vague and belated.” They insist this explanation is merely an afterthought meant to disrupt the film’s production and damage the franchise’s legacy.

The consequences? Major financial losses, disrupted schedules, and a stalled momentum on what was shaping up to be a high-profile revival of the iconic comedy series. The production company is now demanding ₹25 crore in damages from Rawal and has issued a seven-day ultimatum, pay up or face both civil and criminal proceedings.

Paresh Rawal, for his part, confirmed his departure from Hera Pheri 3 in a May 18 X post, but denied it was due to creative clashes. He claims he informed key players Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and director Priyadarshan of his decision. However, both Shetty and Priyadarshan appeared blindsided, claiming in separate interviews that they were “clueless” about his exit.
