Despite being one of Bollywood’s most versatile actors, with a career spanning over 500 films, Anupam Kher has made an unconventional lifestyle choice—he doesn’t own a home in Mumbai. Instead, the beloved star lives in a rented apartment, a decision he says reflects his unique perspective on life.
In a recent conversation with Curly Tales, the veteran actor opened up about this choice. “I live in a rented apartment because I don’t feel the need to own a home here. Who would I buy it for?” Kher remarked candidly.
Anupam Kher explained his rationale: “I believe it’s better to pay rent monthly and live comfortably. Instead of tying up money in buying property, I prefer keeping it in my bank account and using it to pay rent. That makes more sense to me.”
When asked about the deeper reasoning behind this decision, Kher shared, “I think it’s more meaningful to give to people while you’re alive rather than leaving behind material possessions like houses or properties.”
However, Anupam Kher hasn’t entirely steered clear of property ownership. He revealed that he bought a house for his mother in Shimla after jokingly telling her once, “Your son is a big star now!”
Speaking about his wife, actress and politician Kirron Kher, Anupam mentioned that she initially found his decision odd. “At first, she couldn’t wrap her head around it, but over time, she came to agree with me. Though she has her own home in Chandigarh,” he added with a smile.
On the work front, Anupam Kher is currently making waves with his latest release, Vijay 69, co-starring Chunky Panday and Mihir Ahuja.
This unorthodox approach to life and wealth is just another example of how Kher continues to inspire his fans, not just through his performances but also with his unconventional wisdom.
