In a bizarre and emotionally charged scene straight out of a dramatic movie, a family feud in Jaipur took a shocking turn when a man lay down on his deceased mother’s funeral pyre, refusing to let the cremation proceed until he was handed her silver bangles.

The incident unfolded on May 3 in a village near Jaipur, where 65-year-old Bhuri Devi, mother to seven sons, had passed away earlier that day. While the grieving family was preparing for her final rites, a dispute erupted over her jewellery.

According to villagers, the trouble began when the family’s elder son, Girdhari, was handed the late mother’s silver bangles after the home rituals. This did not sit well with Omprakash, the fifth son, who lived separately from his brothers and had long been at odds with them over property matters.

The family, including Omprakash, carried their mother’s bier to the cremation ground together. But once there, the ceremony took a shocking turn. Omprakash suddenly climbed onto the wooden funeral pyre, laid down, and refused to let the cremation happen unless he was given the bangles.

“I will die with my mother,” he declared dramatically, refusing to budge even as relatives pleaded with him to step aside. All the while, the body of Bhuri Devi, draped in a pink saree, lay on the ground beside the pyre, waiting for her final journey.

The emotional standoff lasted nearly two hours, drawing a crowd and causing outrage and disbelief among villagers and family members alike. The tension was finally defused only when the silver bangles were brought to the cremation site and handed over to Omprakash.

The video of the bizarre protest has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread debate about family disputes and the sanctity of final rites. No police action has been taken so far, and the incident remains a haunting example of how deep family rifts can overshadow even the most sacred of moments.
