The heat that once scorched the region has begun to fade. In Rohtas, daily highs have dropped from above 41 °C to around 38.8 °C, while Patna’s mercury has cooled to about 38 °C. Banka is seeing the sharpest dip, with maximum temperatures recorded as low as 31.5 °C, offering a much-needed break for residents and farmers alike.

Patna’s skies are expected to remain overcast into Thursday, soon giving way to morning and afternoon showers. The capital’s daytime highs will settle in the low 30s °C, while nighttime lows hover in the upper 20s °C. These damp conditions are set to continue through Saturday and beyond, as the monsoon establishes itself across the state.

This seasonal shift brings not only heat relief but also optimism for Bihar’s agrarian communities. With anticipation of 11 % above‑normal rainfall across the monsoon cycle, fields should soon brim with water even as authorities urge precaution against heavy winds, lightning, and localized flooding.

Despite the wet weather, some challenges loom. In nearby Jharkhand, initial showers caused waterlogging and disrupted traffic, reminding urban planners of the need for resilient infrastructure

Bihar, too, has seen tragic consequences: lightning strikes this week claimed lives in Buxar, Katihar, Lakhisarai, and Bhagalpur, underscoring the dangers of sudden thunderstorms. The state government has responded with relief measures and warnings urging residents to take shelter during storms.

In summary, Bihar’s monsoon is now in full swing cooling temperatures, darkening skies, and steady rainfall. From today through at least Saturday, the state can expect a shift from heatwave to wet season. While the rains bring agrarian relief and respite from the heat, thunder, lightning, and wind will pose intermittent hazards.
