In a powerful show of solidarity with India’s armed forces, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab just days after India and Pakistan agreed to an urgent ceasefire following a tense military standoff.

The visit came in the wake of “Operation Sindoor”, a decisive Indian military response launched on May 7 after the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. During the operation, Indian forces struck nine terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists associated with groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Standing tall among the armed forces, PM Modi was seen saluting in front of an S-400 missile system, a bold rebuttal to Pakistan’s dramatic claim that it had destroyed the advanced air defense unit in a missile strike. Pakistani officials had boasted that hypersonic missiles fired from JF-17 fighter jets had taken out the S-400 system at Adampur, a claim flatly denied by Indian authorities.

“India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation,” the Prime Minister posted on X (formerly Twitter), along with images of him interacting with air warriors and troops at the airbase. He described the visit as “a very special experience,” praising their courage and determination.

PM Modi also launched a scathing attack on Pakistan’s duplicity, highlighting how its senior military officials were seen attending funerals of terrorists killed in the Indian strikes, a move he called “strong evidence of state-sponsored terrorism.”

Calling “Operation Sindoor” a turning point in India’s strategic doctrine, PM Modi said it sets a “new normal” in counter-terror operations. “Our forces showed unwavering courage and executed the mission with surgical precision,” he said in a national address on Monday.

As the dust settled after four intense days of cross-border missile and drone exchanges, both nations reached a ceasefire agreement on Saturday to de-escalate the situation. But India’s message was clear: terror will be met with force, and retaliation will be swift and decisive.
