During the premiere of Pushpa 2 on December 4 at the Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad, a tragic stampede left an eight-year-old boy, Shri Tej, critically injured. As per the health bulletin released on Tuesday by KIMS Cuddles Hospital, the child remains in the ICU and is on ventilator support. Unfortunately, there has been no improvement in his neurological condition.

What Did the Doctors Say?

Doctors reported that Shri Tej was initially on mechanical ventilation with minimal oxygen and pressure support. They are now considering a tracheostomy, a surgical procedure to insert a tube into the windpipe to aid breathing. The hospital’s statement mentioned that his fever is subsiding, and his vital parameters remain stable on minimal inotropes.

The hospital further stated that the child was brought in on December 4 with low oxygen saturation and breathing difficulties. Although his breathing support was removed on December 10, he had to be reintubated on December 12 due to respiratory distress.

Shri Tej’s Brain Declared Dead

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, after visiting the hospital, revealed that Shri Tej’s brain was declared dead due to a lack of oxygen during the stampede. The doctors stated that his recovery will take a significant amount of time.

The stampede occurred when a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun, who was attending the premiere. The chaos led to suffocation, claiming the life of 35-year-old Mogudampalli Revathi and critically injuring her son, Shri Tej. While Revathi was declared dead at the hospital, Shri Tej was given CPR and admitted for intensive treatment.

Allu Arjun Released on Bail

Last week, actor Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the stampede case but was released on interim bail by the Telangana High Court a day later. Police have charged the theater management, Allu Arjun, and his team with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
