Married Woman Kidnaps
In a shocking incident from Maharashtra’s Palghar district, a 38-year-old married woman abducted her three-month-old nephew to convince her lover that the child was theirs, in an attempt to start a new life with him. Police provided this information on Tuesday, revealing that the woman took the baby to Nalanda, Bihar. The police rescued the child and arrested the woman on Sunday.

Inspector Sanjay Hajare from Mandvi Police Station stated that on February 18, the woman took her sister-in-law’s son out for a walk in the Vasai area of Mandvi, Palghar, and then disappeared. When the family couldn’t find the child, they filed a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under Section 137(2) of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping.

Following the complaint, Mandvi Police launched an investigation using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs. It was discovered that the woman was in Nalanda, Bihar. A police team reached Nalanda and sought assistance from the Divisional Intelligence Unit (DIU) there. Working together with Nalanda DIU and the local police, they conducted raids at several houses in Surya Chak village near the Bihar-Jharkhand border. Eventually, the woman was found inside a house with the baby.

The baby was safely rescued and handed back to his family, while the woman was brought back to Mandvi on Sunday. During interrogation, the woman confessed that she was married with three children but wanted to start a new life with her lover in Bihar. According to the police, she had hidden her marital status from her lover and pretended to be unmarried and pregnant. To support her claim, she kidnapped her sister-in-law’s baby and tried to convince her lover that it was their child.
