Actress and former beauty queen Ishika Taneja, who appeared in the 2017 film Indu Sarkar, has announced her decision to leave the entertainment industry and embrace spirituality. She has dedicated herself to promoting Sanatan Dharma and spiritual teachings.
Having acted in a few films and several music videos, Ishika declared her decision to become a Sadhvi, renouncing the glamour world. On January 29, during Mauni Amavasya at the Mahakumbh Mela, she took a holy dip and publicly announced her commitment to the spiritual path. After taking the dip, she vowed to spread the teachings of Sanatan Dharma and urged young women to follow the same path.

Ishika Taneja was crowned Miss World Tourism in 2018. In 2016, she was honored with the President’s Award by then-President Pranab Mukherjee under the 100 Women Achievers category.
In 2017, Ishika played a key role in Indu Sarkar, directed by renowned filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. She later acted in Vikram Bhatt’s web series Hadh.

Earlier in January, Ishika took Guru Diksha in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, under the guidance of Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj.

Encouraging other women to adopt a Sanatan way of life, Ishika stated that women are not meant to wear revealing clothes and dance but rather to serve Sanatan Dharma.

She also dismissed claims that her decision to become a Sadhvi was a publicity stunt.

Ishika firmly stated that she would never return to her “old life.” However, she added that if given an opportunity, she might produce films, but they would focus on promoting Sanatan Dharma.
