The victims — P Tarun Viswastharangan, Revanth M, and G Joseph Anto Jeniff — were all students of Saveetha College of Physiotherapy. According to authorities, the students had entered the outflow channel of the Aliyar reservoir, a scenic but deceptively deep spot popular among tourists. Despite no signs of a strong current, the water’s depth proved fatal.

The group of around 25 students was on an official college trip accompanied by faculty members. What was meant to be a day of learning and leisure quickly turned into a scene of devastation. Fire and rescue teams swiftly responded, recovering the bodies from the water.
Gripping visuals from the scene captured emotional breakdowns among classmates as the bodies were brought ashore — a grim reminder of the unpredictability of nature and the fragility of life.
