The presence of Canadian intelligence chief Daniel Rogers at the summit was particularly noteworthy, given the ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Canada over the Hardeep Singh Nijjar case. Ties between the two nations have been frosty since former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of being linked to Nijjar’s killing in September 2023—allegations that New Delhi dismissed as “absurd.”
