Amanatullah Khan May Face MCOCA Charges
The troubles for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Okhla, Amanatullah Khan, continue to mount. The Delhi Police is reportedly preparing to impose the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against him. Earlier, on Monday, an FIR was registered against Khan, including non-bailable charges related to organized crime and rioting.

Amanatullah Khan is accused of aiding a fugitive wanted in an attempted murder case to escape police custody. According to the police, Khan is currently absconding.
However, the Okhla MLA has written a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, asserting that he is not on the run but is present in his constituency. Khan alleged, “Some Delhi Police officials are falsely implicating me in fabricated cases. The person whom the police came to arrest was already out on bail. He showed the necessary documents, but to cover up their mistake, the police are now falsely framing me.”

Delhi Police sources claim that Amanatullah Khan is a regular offender and has multiple cases registered against him. Charge sheets have been filed in several cases, while some are under trial, and investigations are ongoing in others. Due to this, the police are considering invoking the MCOCA against him.
Sources further stated that Khan has been evading arrest. The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch and South District Police have conducted raids at various locations in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi to apprehend him. According to police sources, Amanatullah’s phone was last traced to Mithapur Chowk in the Jaitpur area, but it was switched off on Monday evening.

Police suspect that some AAP leaders are helping Khan evade arrest. His and his close associates’ mobile phones are under surveillance. Additionally, sources revealed that the police are also seeking legal opinions on whether they can banish Amanatullah Khan from the city.
