In a jaw-dropping display of sheer muscle and might, an elephant from Kerala’s Palakkad district has become the newest internet sensation. A viral video from Thiruvegappura village shows the majestic animal pulling a stranded Toyota Fortuner SUV out of a river and doing so with an ease that left netizens stunned.

The video, uploaded to Instagram by user Saidokya90, opens with a scene straight out of an action movie: a white first-generation Toyota Fortuner partially submerged in a shallow river, its front-left corner caught in water. But instead of calling in a crane or tow truck, the rescuers opted for nature’s powerhouse, an elephant.

With a rope secured to the SUV’s front tow hook and the other end in the elephant’s trunk, the massive creature heaved with raw determination. Seconds later, the nearly 2.1-ton vehicle (weighing between 2,105 kg and 2,135 kg, with a potential gross weight of up to 2,735 kg) was effortlessly hauled back onto solid ground.

The feat, while impressive, raised eyebrows for the wrong reasons too with many wonderings why such a task was handed to an animal rather than a machine. Still, the internet was quick to admire the elephant’s strength, flooding the comments with awe and admiration.

So far, the viral video has over 2.4 million views and it has got over 173K likes as well and the numbers are still increasing.
