In his latest vlog, Elvish spoke about the devastating realization. At first, he couldn’t recognize her but after a closer look, he realized that Himanshi Narwal, the grieving widow sitting by her husband’s coffin, had been a friend during his days at Delhi University’s Hansraj College.

“I graduated in 2018, and we hadn’t been in touch since,” Elvish said, his voice heavy with emotion. “Gurgaon was our city… we had so many memories together — taking metro rides, college fun. I still had her number, but I couldn’t bring myself to call. At a time like this… what could I even say?”
Instead, Elvish reached out to a mutual friend, who tried calling Himanshi. It took 31 calls before she finally answered, showing how deep her grief runs.

In his video, Elvish made a heartfelt appeal to his followers: “Please don’t post cheerful travel photos or happy memories from Kashmir right now. It’s not the time. Let’s stand in solidarity.”
Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, only 26 years old, had married Himanshi just days earlier, on April 16. After their wedding celebrations, the newlyweds left for Kashmir on April 21 to begin their new life together. But tragedy struck the very next day. While enjoying ‘bhelpuri’ in the stunning meadows of Baisaran, a terrorist shot Lieutenant Narwal in the head, ending his life instantly.

On Wednesday, when Vinay’s body arrived in Delhi, Himanshi stood by the coffin, grief-stricken yet strong. “I pray his soul rests in peace… We will make him proud in every way,” she said through tears, clutching the coffin tightly. “It is because of heroes like him that we live in a free world. We must all be proud of him.”

Lieutenant Narwal, who had joined the Indian Navy two years ago and was stationed in Kochi, was among 26 people killed in the brutal terrorist attack — a list that also included an Intelligence Bureau officer.
His grandfather, Hawa Singh, remembered Vinay’s lifelong dream of serving the nation. “Even as a little boy, whenever he saw military vehicles, he would bombard me with questions,” Singh shared with NDTV. “He was destined to serve.”
