In a chilling incident that has shaken Tamil Nadu, a police officer lost his life while bravely trying to stop a violent domestic fight late Monday night near Udumalpet in Tiruppur district.

Special Sub-Inspector Shanmugavel was on night patrol when a distress call led him to a private estate in Kudimangalam, reportedly owned by a local AIADMK MLA. The call concerned a heated and violent altercation between a man, Murthy, and his two sons, Thangapandian and Manikandan, who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Upon arriving at the scene, SSI Shanmugavel attempted to break up the scuffle and even arranged for medical help for the injured father. But what happened next turned a routine intervention into a horrific crime.

As the officer was speaking to Thangapandian, the younger son, Manikandan who had been hiding nearby suddenly lunged at him with a sickle. In a shocking twist, the father Murthy and elder son Thangapandian joined in the brutal attack, chasing and hacking the officer to death.
