In a dramatic daylight robbery straight out of a crime thriller, a masked thief pulled off a bold heist at a mobile phone shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor by using an unusual weapon, red chilli powder.

The incident took place on Wednesday (April 30) at the mobile shop of a man named Suhail. What began as an ordinary customer interaction quickly turned into a shocking scene of chaos, all caught on CCTV and now circulating widely on social media.

According to reports, the man entered the store pretending to be a customer and asked for a mobile recharge worth ₹19. Moments later, he asked for another recharge of ₹29, all the while keeping his face hidden behind a mask. As Suhail focused on the recharges, the seemingly harmless customer suddenly reached into his jacket and pulled out a pouch of red chilli powder.

Without warning, he hurled the powder into Suhail’s eyes, temporarily blinding him with the intense burning sensation. Seizing the moment, the thief lunged toward the cash drawer, snatched ₹50,000, and made a run for it.

Despite his blurred vision and searing pain, Suhail tried to stop the man and even managed to grab his hand briefly, but the thief broke free and dashed out of the shop. Suhail gave chase, stumbling through the burning in his eyes, and shouted for help.

Locals quickly came to his aid, helping wash his eyes and calling the police. Officers soon arrived on the scene and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the shop and nearby areas is being analyzed to identify the accused. A case has been registered and police say efforts are in full swing to nab the culprit.
