In recent months, the actor’s health had taken a serious turn. Struggling with severe kidney-related ailments, Venkat required an urgent transplant. His daughter, Shravanthi, had made a heartfelt public plea for help, estimating the procedure at around ₹50 lakh. While the family received some genuine support notably ₹2 lakh from actor Pawan Kalyan, along with help from Vishwak Sen and a Telangana state minister, the situation was made worse by a disturbing scam.

Fraudsters posing as actor Prabhas’s assistant misled the family, giving them false hope of financial assistance. “It was a fake call,” the family confirmed to Suman TV. “Prabhas doesn’t even know something like this is happening.”
