Known for his deep patriotism and thoughtful storytelling, Manoj Kumar carved a unique niche in Hindi cinema with timeless classics like Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. Despite being a part of Bollywood’s golden era alongside stars like Shashi Kapoor and Dharmendra, Kumar deliberately stayed away from the rat race. In a past interview with film journalist Subhash K. Jha, the soft-spoken actor once remarked, “I am not a greedy film person… While my contemporaries Dharmendra and Shashi Kapoor acted in nearly 300 films each, I’ve done hardly 35 in my entire career.”

He had been unwell for some time but faced every challenge with resilience. He passed away peacefully, with God’s grace and Sai Baba’s blessings.”
I grew up learning from him that there’s no emotion like love and pride for our country. And if we actors won’t take the lead in showing this emotion, who will? Such a fine person, and one of the biggest assets of our fraternity. RIP Manoj Sir. Om Shanti 🙏 pic.twitter.com/sr8U4Wkqgq
